With the new year will come new clients and new demands. You may already be overwhelmed with the sheer volume of work, constant deadlines and demands on a daily basis. With the constant influx of things to do, how do we keep up with it all? It amazes me how many people do not even have a To-Do list/system to track what needs to be done. From a productivity standpoint, I feel everyone should use some type of ToDo list/system to track tasks, get more done and improve time management.
There are many ways to track your tasks:
- In your head
- Legal pad(s)
- Electronic tasks or time management systems (such as Outlook)
- Smartphones
- Spreadsheets
- Post-It notes
- On scratch paper
- Using a ticker system
- Planner pad
- Preprinted note pads
- Many more!
It really does not matter what you use, just make sure everything is on one list and that you use it. Which method(s) works best for you? It’s okay to use multiple methods! In particular, do not rely solely on electronic methods. What if your computer crashes? Conversely, what if you lose your planner? It is smart to always have a back-up.)
