There’s no doubt about it, we live in an amazing time in terms of technology! The information and connection we need to successfully manage our lives are always at hand – literally. It’s never been easier to access social media, email or Google no matter where we are or what we’re doing. And apps like FaceTime and Skype keep us connected with family, friends and business associates, allowing us to maintain personal and business relationships, even from a distance.

Making the most of the available technology designed to make our lives easier and increase productivity can be key to getting more done in less time AND having more time for doing the things we love. Here are some great examples of the best apps for increasing productivity:

  • Humin (android/apple): Have you ever met someone and jotted down their contact info or taken their business card only to lose it later? More likely than not, if you were able to find it when you actually needed that info, you forgot where you knew the person from or even their name. Humin helps you organize and streamline your contacts. All you have to do is enter in a few notes when you meet the person, such as when or where you met them, and the app will take care of the rest by storing all this info in an easy to find manner for future reference. The app actually allows you to search for that person based on criteria like the city they live in or the group they belong to, etc. – just in case you do forget the name. Check it out!
  • Dropbox (android/apple): This app gives you the ability to store all your files in a virtual folder that you can access easily from any of your devices. You can even make separate sections to store different types of files, such as documents and videos. Finally, you can share these files with other Dropbox users.
  • Slack (android/apple): Slack is attempting to change the game when it comes to workplace communication by eliminating email completely. It does this by acting as a chat room, allowing you to send files, tag and talk to your coworkers with ease. It also allows you to stay focused on the work at hand without the added stress of checking your email every five minutes to see if the task at hand has changed.

It’s no secret that there’s a “blessing and a curse” aspect to the technology we enjoy today. Apps can be distracting and make it hard to focus on the task at hand – especially when it’s so easy to check social media or catch up on the latest news. But these apps (and many others) can really help you stay organized and productive. That’s a blessing!
