Use vertical hanging files for active files, like a “Bills to pay” “Data entry”, “Meeting notes”, “Waiting for response” etc.
These folders should be in a spot that you will remember to check and address often. It is important to take action on time-sensitive items. Test-drive the system and see if it works for you!
